How to explain dyslexia to your child

Some parents are reluctant to “label” their child, and I definitely understand their hesitation. However, what I have found from working with kids (and adults) with dyslexia, is that they often end up labeling themselves– usually with labels like “stupid” or “slow.” Isn’t it a much better idea to empower your child with the knowledge that they’re not bad or dumb, they just think in a different way?
